VISIONS OF VIOLET ...

Dear readers, I am participating in Alphabe-Thursday where this week's colour is VIOLET: a girl’s name, a flowering plant (below), a community in Louisiana USA, the name of songs, films, a musical and many fictional characters besides. And together with related shades like purple and magenta, one of my favourite colours. Not for interior design, you understand, where I lean more to a neutral palette. No, for haute couture. So, enough of the talk and, in Sir David Frost’s immortal words, let’s look at the evidence!

KEY:
1 Armani Prive (above)
2 Armani Prive – Cate Blanchett (below)
3 Armani Prive – Zhang Ziyi
4 Lanvin – Natalie Portman
5 Y-Zigal
6-7 Marc Jacobs – Anne Hathaway
8-9 Alexander Wang – Blake Lively, Tamsin Egerton, Kloe Kardashian
10-11 Rodarte – Dasha Zhutova
12 Oscar de la Renta – Amy Adams
13 Christina Hendricks – Mad Men Emmy winner, August 2010 (designer unknown)
Now, as for the natural world, here are some beautiful blooms starting with African violets:
And, as for the man-made world, here’s just one example - Ronan Keating’s August 2010 concert, Kenwood House, Hampstead, London:
I ADORE VIOLET! BUT WHAT ABOUT YOU – DO YOU LOVE IT OR HATE IT? AND COULD YOU WEAR ANY OF THE DESIGNER OUTFITS ABOVE?

Do tell me! And do check out other Alphabe-Thursday posts @ Jenny Matlock's great site! And, finally, thank you to all my dear readers and also new followers who visited or commented last week! Have a great weekend and see you again for Six Word Saturday!
Enjoy!
XOXO LOLA:)

I'm sure I'm going to be the only one who says this, but I actually do not like violet for clothes. Mind you, I feel that there is an exception to every fashion rule, but in general, there's something about it I just don't like.
That being said, I quite love those violet carnations ;)

Hi Nora and Lola,

Love violet and the little flower, violets and all the beautiful dresses and flowers you have shared here.
My favourites are the first three.
Thanks for sharing.

Hope that your week is going well.

On some people and in some shades violet is beautiful and you have chosen some wonderful examples to share with us. My aura is pitched more towards a true red but that does not mean to say we can't all appreciate the beauty of violet.

One of my favorite colors. It's such a rich, regal color. The Armani gets my vote again!
Thanks for another beautiful post for Rainbow Summer School. ~ Sarah

Hmm, I don't have this color in my wardrobe yet.

I really love many of the outfits here. I like the brighter violets though, they look more cheerful =)

To your comment: It's a bittergourd ;D

Have a bizarre day,
Berlin

As pretty as some of those dresses were, they were dwarfed in beauty by the flowers!

If I had had a child (and of course if she had been a girl, grin) I would have called her Violet. I think it is such a lovely name and a great colour - one of my favourites.

Incidentally, last week I bought an indigo jumper and I thought of you :)

LOVE VIOLET!! Well, every shade of purple, really :-)

If I had the body for them, I'd wear all of those beautiful violet dresses :-)

oh that hideous dress that Christina Hendricks wore to the emmys is by Zac Posen ... which is shocking, i usually love his stuff, but this one (imho) ... just didn't work

Oh wow! Lots of gorgeous violets!!

No - none of those dresses call out to me. The flowers, now, they are altogether a different matter. I love violet in the garden.

The dresses are intriguing, but I like the first one best for its subtle elegant simplicity. Could I wear them? ha! What size are they?! Sure, (if I was that size)---they look like fun!

Beautiful visions in violet!

I love violet too! I've found all sorts of color memes (Redness Day, Yellow Mellow Monday, days for white and black, and pink, and blue) but no one seems to be doing purple...or green, my other favorite color...or orange.

Fun photos today!

I was looking forward to getting to this link to see what fashions you had to share in this lovely color.

I started backwards this week so you are my last post!

Figures!

I adore this color in clothing...and I can actually wear it and get compliments when I do!

I enjoyed reading how controversial this color is in clothing. I never thought twice about it. I would wear it every day from pale to deep!

Thanks for a lovely link!

And, I definitely saved the best for last this week.

Thank you, thank you!
