'J' IS FOR JUST LOOK: ALEXANDER McQUEEN'S LAST COLLECTION!

Dear readers, I am participating in Jenny Matlock’s Alphabe-Thursday where ‘J’ is for JUST LOOK: THE LATE ALEXANDER McQUEEN’S LAST SHOW (FALL/WINTER 2010)! Shown during Paris Fashion Week, it displays his wholly unique style! What’s your judgement? Do you think it could translate to the high street? And if so, could you see yourself in any of the costumes? (Doing the weekly shop? Catching the bus? Jumping into a taxi?) Let me know what you think, dear readers! Happy Alphabe-Thursday!

XOXO LOLA:)

I had to look twice to see if the dresses were being worn by models or mannequins!

He borders on editorial, doesn't he?

Beautiful fabrics!

I don't think McQueens looks ever really lent themselves to the high street, mainly because impeccable tailoring and intricate embroidery can't be easily copied (unlike shredded jeans and shoulder pads). The last collection was beautiful, but it would have been amazing to see what his real concept would have been, if he could have completed the entire collection (and I believe even these looks were only 80% completed by him?).

Oh, and that pic in your last post is hilarious ;-)

Hmmmmmm...at first I was thinking that these were not my thing but I'm actually drawn to the last four. Maggi approved! lol ;)

Dear readers! My hopelessly inefficient P.A., Nora, may have inadvertently deleted (!!) one of your lovely comments! If it was yours, please accept my apologies and do please leave another 'cos I wouldn't want not to hear from you!!

XOXO LOLA:)

A great loss, most certainly. Although I have to say that as I went down the line of pictures I found myself thinking "That would look great on a Barbie" - maybe that's just my Barbie obsession speaking.

Well, Lola, it wasn't one of my comments lol!

Like the designs but the hairstyles??! Bizarre!

Isn't it sad that coture isn't really wearable? I mean, there are a couple of things here you could wear, but not many. I'm so loving some of thse though, that I could just wear them in my house and act like a Queen (but i already do that).

His collection is just too beautiful for words - I wouldn't want to see cheap imitations on the high street. Saying that his bumsters did eventually filter down the food chain and gave us the not so delightful muffin top...... I shall miss Lee's talent - he really was a genius.

the clothes and the model are much too severe for me but i do like the shapes of some of the clothes :D

I wouldn't want to wear anything that made the model look THAT mad!

I think they are all very interesting. I can't see running to Wal Mart or Dollar Tree in any of them though!

First of all Dana's comment made me laugh.

I love the fabrics but I would never wear any of them because...
a) they look hot which would make me rip them off in about 12 seconds
b) my hair would never do that
and
c) I doubt they come in plus size.

Great J post!

I love the variety of J's we are seeing this week!

A+

Such intriguing designs! I wonder if I can ever come up with something better..Gorgeous!!

Well, the fabrics he has chosen are gorgeous but I'm not that keen on the styling this time - which is probably a terrible thing to admit to, seeing as how it is his last collection.

Like works of art in fabric - so rich looking. But I couldn't see anyone wearing them to go grocery shopping. Seems that most fashion requires an angularly slim build which I've never had. :)

These are works of art, every one of them! Amazing! Whether I could or would wear any of them is not the issue at all - it's the artistic beauty of his collection.

the fabrics are stunning ... the silhouettes interesting ... the detail is incredible ... and no, not for a quick dash to the store ...
