'I' IS FOR ICON!

Dear readers, I am participating in Jenny Matlock’s Alphabe-Thursday where ‘I’ is for ICON! Do check out other great posts! The sign of a great modern celebrity is the ability to look really good on a really bad day. Think Princess Diana, Madonna, err, Victoria Beckham and now David Beckham.
Having just been dealt a possibly career-ending blow with his exclusion from the World Cup due to injury, does he simply slink away into self-pitying obscurity? Oh no! With the world's media watching, he shows off this summer's trickiest and most controversial trend: double denim (denim top and bottom!). In other words, here’s a man still with his eye on the, err, ball!
Here’s Alexa Chung (below left) in double denim too! And, to follow, some styles hot off the catwalk. Please do let me know which one you like best or least! And if you’ll be wearing double denim yourself this summer?
Enjoy! And thank you so much for all the comments, visits and new followers!

People Who Know Me Would Say: said...

Lola, this is a welcome change for the letter "I"!

Beckham looks handsome in whatever he wears; more handsome when he wears very little. Not that I would look or anything.

Thin girl photographs nicely, but could use a bit to eat. Shall we take up a collection for her?

Those models look half starved- where's that collection box?!

Yes they are thin but would still look great in a bin bag! :(

Would wearing jeans and a jean jacket count as double denim? If so, that's me!

I'm still chuckling over the first comment re: a collection. Too funny!

I've been wondering lately about this trend with denim shirts. I hadn't seen them in years but they're popping up all over the place. Not sure I could pull it off!

Hi Lola and Nora,

No way ~ never double denim. No no!
Love your comment about Mr Beckham ~ I wonder if he can make it back?
Thanks for sharing a fun post and all the lovely photos.

Happy weekend
Hugs
Carolyn

I would never wear double denim because I live in the desert and I would probably die of heatstroke.

However...if I were as skinny as those models I might need double denim to keep warm.

So I'm not quite sure how to answer this complicated issue!

A+ for a thought provoking post!

Love the second one - classic, but very fresh and fun. I live in Texas, so this summer I plan on wearing as little denim as possible :) (loose) cotton sundresses are pretty much the plan from May until October! Kathy

No double denim here ... I'm just not a DD kind of girl

How did she manage to make double denim look so good?

I think that DD is just a passing fad that can pass right by me! My hubby wears it all the time but his shirts are really really old!
i always knew he was a fshion hound!

I hadn't heard about this double denim thing. Seems like an 80's throwback. I'll have to think about it some more. :) Fun post and great word.

I'm sorry to say that just hanging around the house , I have been guilty of a double denim infraction .lol The models do look as though they could use a good meal.

double denim??? um...not for me...but then again...I'm always cold, so it might actually help.
It would be fun to keep up with the revolving fashions...it seems like I find myself a few steps behind or else way ahead when it comes to the trends...(there's always something my kids can find in my closet for their "70's or 80's" themed parties!

Blessings & Aloha!
(still trying to catch up on all the wonderful "I" posts!)
