"LAST GIANT OF HOLLYWOOD'S GOLDEN AGE?"

“LAST GIANT OF HOLLYWOOD’S GOLDEN AGE?”

This is how Tony Curtis was described in yesterday’s edition of the Times of London. What do you think? Do you believe today’s actors/actresses have the same star quality and staying power?

Do let me know!

Hollywood has gone from the golden age, when stars were true stars...Today there very few whom I would compare slightly to them...Glamour and mystery have been replaced by tackyness and sleaze...RIP Mr Curtis...

One of the best of a great golden age.

Does that mean only Elizabeth Taylor's one of the few now left from that era?

Tony Curtis movies were for sure a part of the fabric of my growing up year.

imho he was far too beautiful for a man. (btw I mean that in nicest possible way.)

Yes, I loved him also. Seems like all the good stars are leaving us.

Not many real stars left - just a lot of very ordinary and sometimes trashy 'celebs'.

I think we do have some good actors and actresses now days too...but it is sad to see so many of the old timers passing away.

Don't see enough movies to judge.

Bernie Schwarz sure was great, though.

Cheers!

I really don't think that today's stars are the movie icons of years past. It is very sad actually. Hope you have a great day!!! Jeanne, Chloe and LadyBug

I believe there are still good "actors" just not many left with "star" quality. I think part of the problem is technology and the press. They become way too accessible whereas before there was a magical untouched type of quality to a movie star. Gone are those beautiful ritzy days of Hollywood. I still watch a lot of the old films as you saw on my blog because they are so dreamy. Nowadays everything is too real--too much like my own life. Who wants that?

Sad news about Tony Curtis. Love visiting your blog btw. =D
