GREEN IS FOR ...

Dear readers, I am participating in Alphabe-Thursday where GREEN is the vibrant colour of the natural world: trees, plants and so on. (More below.) The very symbol of life and all things positive, the second most popular colour after blue. In one aspect of the manmade world - interior décor - it is for me, though, another problematic colour. It’s not just that I dislike it, I detest it in kitchens and bathrooms (my apologies if you’ve just installed that beautiful avocado green bathroom or pistachio-hued kitchen of your dreams!) - doubtlessly a hangover from fraught childhood visits to dentist/hospital waiting rooms which were always that dismally dirty shade of “calming” green. As for fashion, I’m not sure…! Before we jump into that favourite old pair of jeans and tee, let’s have our little couture-fix and take a look at some examples to help us make up our minds:

KEY:
1 Valentino (above)
2 Same Valentino - Rachel Weisz (below)
3 Jason Wu
4 Jason Wu - Diane Kruger
5 YSL
6 YSL – Becky Newton
7 Karen Zambos
8 Karen Zambos - Katherine McPhee & Garcelle Beauvais
9-10 Diane von Furstenburg
11 Lanvin - Leighton Meester
12 Proenza Schouler – Amy Adams
13 Max Azria – Camilla Belle
14 Balanciaga – Miranda Kerr & Ali Larter
15 Naheem Khan – Katherine Heigl
16 Canine couture snapped here last winter (designer unknown)
Now, as for the natural world, my love is for one thing only. As anyone who’s read it will know, quite a few lines are devoted to the subject in my psychological, suspense novel, The De Clerambault Code:
All profits to charity (see sidebar). Click HERE for amazing reviews & further details!

Now, if any writer declares their books are never autobiographical, don’t believe them! Where does all that inspiration come from, do you suppose? Some golden-haired muse sitting on our shoulder whispering sweet nothings in our ear all day long?!

So, we leave today with my favourite fix of GREEN: trees. For their timelessness (some thousands of years old), their sense of continuity between generations (standing under the same tree as your great-grandparents did), their beauty and variety. Here, then, is one that, for me, sums up all the above (do you have a favourite too?) - the English oak:
I'M STILL NOT CONVINCED THAT GREEN SUITS ME! “NOTHING DOES!” I HEAR YOU CRY! (WAIT UNTIL BLUE, VIOLET I SAY!) BUT WHAT ABOUT YOU – DO YOU LOVE OR HATE IT? COULD YOU WEAR ANY OF THESE DESIGNER OUTFITS?

Do tell me! And do check out other Alphabe-Thursday posts @ Jenny Matlock´s great site! And, finally, thank you to all my dear readers and also new followers who visited or commented last week! Have a great weekend and see you again for Six Word Saturday!
Enjoy!
XOXO LOLA:)

I love green, the one color that I can wear in almost any shade (as long as it doesn't have too much yellow). That first dress is a knockout. Not sure that I could get away with any of these, but it's nice to dream :)

I have been told I look good in green but I just don't feel comfortable in it. Of course if I looked that those women, ANYTHING would look good on me!!

Thanks for sharing! Just stopping by from Ms. Jenny's school party!

Even though green is my favorite color, I almost never wear it. Somehow it just seems to look much better on trees, spinach, even smoothies than on me LOL!

I lived with that horrid avocado green growing up ... again, that shade needs to stay with the fruit and not on the walls or furniture.

Fun post!

Blessings,
Catherine :)

The dresses are soo beautiful. I always think for green with red headed people. These ladies all carried it off.

Terrific post!

Why are all models so inhumanely skinny? Have to admit anything would look good on them-even a bin bag! Like the tree though!

No, I wouldn't be wearing any of those outfits, but I'd be wearing the colour green, in just about any shade. I'm not to keen on living with the colour green anywhere in the house, though. I had too many years of military base housing, which always featured the same bilious green.

I love green in nature but not so much in clothes. Maybe because my school uniform was green plaid for 12 years! Great green post!!

Thanks for stopping by my little corner of the world.

My bedroom is painted a nice sage green. And there are a few colors of green I will wear. I must say, brunettes and definitely red heads look best in the darker color of greens.

Since I live in a desert country, I would definitely say that my favorite greens are trees and grass. Oh how I miss them! :)

Hope you are having a great day. Tammy

Green is actually my favourite colour, emerald green to be specific, but I agree, not with regards to home decor.

Well, I love almost any shade of green. I don't have a green kitchen or bathroom....no wait....I do have a green bathroom..hahah...but it is outdated in many ways...as in an Angel border....yikes. Thank goodness it is not the bathroom everyone uses.
But, my living room is a blue green sage....light....and it makes me very happy. I love all the green dresses but my 54 year old, out of shape body would not fit in those...eeeor.

I love all of those dresses especially the sequin and floral maxi. I don't have anything green in my wardrobe but now I want something!

Oh, I love today's post, it's so entertaining!

Ugh, most of the dresses were horrible. Let's leave the green to mother nature :)

Haha, I just selected a new bathroom door today, luckily it isn't green.

And, I only have one green shirt(bought it cause I was in the cheer leading team where we were the green team)

Thanks for stopping by, your comment entertained me :D

Have a great day!

I love the emerald greens and kelly green. Not sure I could pull off any of those designs.

My kitchen is olive green, but not by choice. It was that way when we moved in. Not sure what color I would want.

For me, the tree wins the fashion parade. No question!

I want to wear that dreamy floral number.

On a beach.

In Fiji.

Without a phone.

For two weeks.

Complete with fruity drinks with little paper umbrellas in them!

I love your posts!

You are so interesting.
