WILL I "BUMP" INTO MICHELLE TONIGHT?

Ref. last Saturday’s post (about Hotel Villa La Padiena), I haven’t, as yet, been bumped from the restaurant reservation I made some time ago for a special celebration tonight at the same hotel where Michelle Obama, the US First Lady, is currently on a private vacation with her daughter, Sasha.

I write “private” but how private can it be to be surrounded constantly by an estimated 70 U.S. secret service agents and over 250 Spanish national police officers ensuring one’s safety? Shortly after her arrival on Wednesday (above and below), Michelle toured Marbella’s Old Town (below) and on Thursday Granada’s Alhambra.

But, to be frank, August is the worst month to visit Andalucia. It’s extremely hot - a scorching 39C (102F) in nearby Cordoba - and full of gawping tourists, not least in her fully-booked hotel pictured below (a nightmare for her security detail). On Sunday, she’s scheduled to visit King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia in Mallorca where, at least, it’s a bit cooler... It's also been reported she may meet Jesse Jackson allegedly also on vacation, not to mention the numerous sheiks who spend the summer here.

Though I greatly admire Mrs Obama and recognize that she has to take her vacations at a fixed time, nonetheless, in her place, I’d have rented a large private villa here (of which there are squillions) for a measure of seclusion. But, to misquote Scott Fitzgerald’s Nick Carraway in the Great Gatsby: “Politicians - and their wives - are different from you and me". Do you agree?
IF YOU WERE A PUBLIC FIGURE ON VACATION, WHICH WOULD BE MORE IMPORTANT TO YOU: SECLUSION OR SIGHTSEEING? DO LET ME KNOW!

AND WATCH THIS SPACE TO FIND OUT IF I “BUMP” INTO MICHELLE TONIGHT!

Happy Six Word Saturday! Other great posts @ Show My Face. Have a great weekend and see you again for Ruby Tuesday!
Mwah!
XOXO LOLA:)

LOLA! so excited to see the update and now I am hanging out for next weeks Restaurant Report.

I hope you stay cool, and don't get caught up in everything.

Not sure what you meant by the Jamie Oliver comment on my site. You may not have noticed that comments only show one link, to your name, but you can edit.

Did you run into her yet? Well, that's a tough one. If I were a celebrity I think I would enjoy some privacy and seclusion but then again a little sight seeing would be fun also. =)

I thought about your last SWS this week when I read about the public criticizing Mrs. Obama's lavish vacation... I'm glad that you haven't gotten "bumped" so far. Can't wait to hear how it all goes...

I think I'd be going after seclusion, but we're all different. A resort, at the height of the season seems an odd choice.

I dropped by your blog because I know that anyone who uses a Bichon Frise for their profile picture is special and blessed with amazingly good taste and a deep and sweet heart. So now I'm off to read your blog.

Have a nice day, Boonsong

For a vacation, I'd prefer seclusion everytime! lol

A very interesting topic!

Don't understand either why she's chosen such a busy resort when she could go anywhere in the world in Airforce 2!

All I want in a vacation is seclusion, seclusion, seclusion - just to be able to escape work & work colleagues for a couple of weeks! :-)

Daaaaahling, i was thinking of you just this morning. I stopped at a corner shop to pick up a diet coke (my PA, Mr P, is currently in London and so I have to do the dirty work myself), and I saw the cover of today's paper. It was a picture of Michelle in Maribella. So what happened???
If I were a public figure, I'd prefer seclusion, but as I am a housewife, I like to be around the hustle and bustle :)

Looks like you have got pretty close to them. I would think that a little privacy would be nice too, but maybe this is her opportunity to tour the world in style.Happy 6WS

Seclusion! Site seeing if I needed publicity. HA! But I would prefer seclusion. Peace and serenity from an otherwise crazy life style.

As much as I love Andalucia, I'd never want to go this time of year, like you said! I'd wait a couple of months...but I guess Sasha is in school and the President's schedule is a *bit* crazy, so they might not have had an option.
