YELLOW IS FOR ...

Dear readers, I am participating in Alphabe-Thursday where YELLOW is the vibrant colour of the natural world: the sun, sunflowers, daffodils, primroses, forsythia and so on (images below). The very symbol of all things positive. In one aspect of the manmade world, ie in terms of fashion, it is for many, though, another problematic colour to “wear”. Let’s start, as before, by looking at some examples. Firstly, some fashion trends.

KEY:
1. Dior (above)
2. Nina Ricci (Reese Witherspoon, below, with other yellow couture)
3. Monique Lhuillier (Terry Hatcher)
4. Isabel Toledo (Michelle Obama – Inauguration)
5. Calvin Klein
6-7 Elie Saab (Laura Linney)
8. Fendi
9. Alexander McQueen Resortwear
10. D & G Maxi
11. Jimmy Choo
12-13. Juicy Couture wedges

14. A Spanish fashionista snapped in the street here last winter (designer unknown)
And we couldn't leave without some typical, yellow-hued flowers:
And, finally, Alberto Contador, the Spanish winner of the 2010 Tour de France, in the winner’s traditional maillot jaune!
LIKE RED AND ORANGE, YELLOW DOESN’T SUIT ME EITHER! (NOTHING SEEMS TO!) WHAT ABOUT YOU – DO YOU LOVE OR HATE IT? COULD YOU WEAR ANY OF THESE DESIGNER OUTFITS?

Do tell me! And do check out other Alphabe-Thursday posts @ Jenny Matlock´s great site!
And, finally, thank you to all my dear readers and also new followers who visited or commented last week!

Have a great weekend and see you again for Six Word Saturday. (And an update on the Michelle Obama saga!)
Enjoy!
XOXO LOLA:)

I wish I could wear yellow but I look jaundiced when I wear it!

Best wishes,

IMHO yellow best suits brunettes with - preferably - deeply tanned skins!

Do like those beautiful blooms though...!

These ladies can carry yellow off in a way that I never could.

With money like that, they can wear yellow even if it looks awful! Me? not the bright yellow's, maybe the rustic mustard ones :)

I love yellow on walls, in the garden, on the table....but not on me. To tell the truth, I do have a pair of palest yellow jeans but that's it - nothing close to my face, ever.

Yep, yellow just doesn't work for me. Looks great on all of these ladies though.

I'm so amazed at all the yellow dresses and yellow flowers you shared! Wow, some of these dresses are a little too bright for me :). Plus, I can never carry off a color this bright, ever. Can't wait to see what you'll find next week for green!

I don't read fashion mags - so I love seeing the trends here. Yellow doesn't look good on me so I never wear it!

I've always found yellow a tricky color to wear. I can only wear the kind of cool, pale yellows. And sometimes, buttery ones.

=)

Hi Nora & Lola,
Love all your yellows especially the Juicy Couture shots & the yellow hibiscus.
My blue hibiscus will be making it's debut soon.

I wish I could wear yellow...it's such a happy color. Unfortunately I cannot carry it off with my particular skin tone. Digging the shoes, though!

I don't think yellow looks good on me but I love it as an accent color, like shoes! They are wonderful!

Yellow is another one of those colours that doesn't look good on a lot of people, though I think its a wonderful colour.
My biggest rule with yellow is never mix it with black, otherwise you look like a bumble bee.

I have been known to do yellow, but the designer thing doesn't suit me. I love the natural yellows better.

One of my newest favorite colors :)

The 9th outfit is just awesome!! I LOVE the details!! Gosh, I want it!!

I don't like the third one though, the shape doesn't look great.

I love yellow, but cannot wear it. So I keep to accessories. I LOVE those Jimmy Choos - I would kill myself trying to walk in them, so I guess I would just have to sit very still and let everyone admire them LOL

The yellow photos are stunning and I love your blog's background. Very cool.

Lovely yellows :o) And thank you for stopping by and answering my question :o) Being the "not so computer savvy" person that I am...I'm still not sure if I can do that link within a comment, even after your great explanation :o) But thank you again!

Blessings & Aloha!

Oh! I meant to say...I think the yellow dresses you shared are quite lovely, but I am not to sure about the first one! A wee bit too "wild couture" for me...haha I can just imagine wearing something like that and knocking everything over as I walk past!

Blessings & Aloha!

What a happy, fashionable, sunny link to Alphabe-Thursdays Rainbow Summer School.

I am "that" woman with the skin that cannot wear yellow. Sure, I could wear it, but people everywhere would call the paramedics thinking I was in the last stages of some jaundice like disease!

I love how these look. I love the shoes. I love the "idea" of wearing sunshine on my body.

But, alas, it is impossible!

Thanks for sharing your lovely style with us, though!
