FANCY SOMETHING DIFFERENT FOR LUNCH TODAY?

Tired of the usual burger and pizza? Local House, a Dubai restaurant, uses camel meat as its main ingredient in soups, curries, salads, pizzas, chops, escalopes etc etc. Even desserts are made with camel milk. And, should you not fancy that, there’s always camel chocolate!

Now, I do like trying new dishes (having eaten whale meat in Finland, horse meat in France where, of course, it’s been consumed for, er, donkey’s years and even sheep's eyes in the Middle East) but I’m not sure about camel. Apparently, it’s like veal but quite a lot tougher!

WHAT IS THE ODDEST FOOD YOU'VE EVER EATEN? AND WHERE?

Happy Six Word Saturday! Other great posts @ Show My Face.
Have a good weekend and see you again for Ruby Tuesday!
Mwah!
XOXO LOLA:)

I have eaten horsemeat, frogs' legs, snails, etc. but probably the strnagest thing I've ever eaten was in a fancy Singapore Chinese restaurant at the end of a grand banquet meal.
They served up a light, refreshing sort-of-herbal jelly which the locals all assured me was something Chinese women swear bear to give them perfect skin. So I ate it. Only then did they add that one of the key ingredients was shavings from turtle shells!

(Truth be told, it was quite nice)

I once found a hair in my Quioa.....does that count??!!?

I have a fairly meat-restrictive diet, but I love trying other kinds of new food. The camel chocolate sounds halfway between enticing and, well, not-so-enticing...but 100% interesting.

Thanks for sharing this new way to bulk up on protein!!

Happy 6WS!!

When I was in high school, someone brought chocolate-covered baby bees to school. I'm sure it was mostly chocolate.
I have also eaten deep-fried lettuce which sounded so interesting and looked even better.

As a young adult, I had a meal of rabbit. This was strange to me after my mother's very conservative Canadian menu of beef, pork and chicken.

Nora, could I please have sausage on my pizza? Please?

I am sorry you didn't get to meet Michelle. Did you hear Paul McCartney sing to her? She beemed!
It is still on the PBS Web site.

Last year in Peru I ate Llama and guinea pig - neither was anything to write home about!

For someone like me who isn't adventurous with food... camel meat is something I wouldn't want to try.

It took me awhile to think of something weird, but I remember. My mom said that I ate a bug when I was like 5? Yuck!!

Have a terrific day,
Berlin
