'T' IS FOR *T*OP OF THE FROCKS (MOVIE FROCKS, THAT IS!)

Dear readers, I am participating in Alphabe-Thursday where ‘T’ is for:
THE TOP TEN MOVIE OUTFITS OF ALL TIME!

Audrey Hepburn's black Givenchy dress from Breakfast At Tiffany's is top of the frocks, a recent poll found. The gown she wore as Holly Golightly in the 1961 film was judged greatest female screen outfit ever. The survey, conducted by DVD rental film Lovefilm to mark the release last week of the latest Sex And The City, also listed Ursula Andress's bikini from Dr No in the top five.

According to Lovefilm editor Helen Cowley: "Audrey Hepburn has truly made that little black dress a fashion staple which has stood the test of time despite competition from some of the most stylish females around. As Sarah Jessica Parker and co-stars prepare to provide the next fashion fix for women everywhere, it'll be interesting to see if their latest threads can make the same impact."

KEY:
1 Audrey Hepburn (Breakfast at Tiffany’s 1961, above)
2 Keira Knightly (Atonement 2007, below)
3 Marilyn Monroe (Seven Year Itch 1955)
4 Ursula Andress (Dr No 1962)
5 Kate Hudson (How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days 2003)
6 Audrey Hepburn (My Fair Lady 1964)
7 Olivia Newton John (Grease 1978)
8 Raquel Welch (One Million Years BC 1966)
9 Nicole Kidman (Moulin Rouge 2001)
10 Sarah Jessica Parker (Sex & The City 2008)

WHICH OUTFITS DO YOU LIKE BEST/ LEAST? WOULD YOU HAVE CHOSEN OTHERS?
DO ANY OF THESE FILMS BRING BACK SPECIAL MEMORIES? AND DO YOU THINK SATC OUTFITS WILL MAKE TOP TEN LISTS IN 50 YEARS’ TIME?

Have a great Alphabe-Thursday! And check out other great Alphabe-Thursday posts @ Jenny Matlock’s great site!

See you again for Six Word Saturday!
XOXO LOLA:)

Audrey Hepburn's so elegant but I'm a bit surprised Grace Kelly didn't make the top ten too?

Super frocks but prefer Ursula Andres's outfit best! Haha

Audrey's LBD is so timeless -that's the trick! :)

Audrey, so pretty. Can you believe she was 40 in that picture?

The one thing about beautiful film frocks is that you have to do something different after, lest it looks like imitation.

I would add Grace Kelly's black and white dress in "Rear Window". I had a birthday dress like that when I was ten.

Word verification= frok 8-) Great post as always!

Amazing there're no Grace Kelly gowns in that top ten list. The Givenchy & Edith Head ones were superb!

I totally have a favourite fashion moment from tv. Its when Carrie (SJP) is wearing a grey versace couture dress in the last season of sex in the city:

I remember seeing it the first time, it totally took my breath away.

I loved Audrey Hepburn's style in Breakfast At Tiffany's and I love the one from My Fair Lady ;-) Also, I liked Marilyn Monroe's dress in Seven Year Itch. The other's are okay but I would think there were better dressed people than them LOL.

When I saw the title of your post, the first thing that popped into my head was Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany's. And of course the Marilyn Monroe dress is a given. But I can't believe that Grace Kelly's film wear didn't make the list. Fun post! Kathy

When I was younger I rarely watched TV and even more rarely went to the movies. The only one I knew from this post was Marilyn Monroe's dress.

Now ask me in ten years and I'll be able to tell you all about What Not to Wear!

Your links are always so fun! And I always learn something from them.

I'm so glad you participate in this meme!

You are terrific!

A+

my favorite satc dress is the one carrie is wearing on the bed in paris...the frothy confection that practically fills up the room. i love the collection you have put together.

I love the dresses, they make such an impact. Sometimes we remember the outfits more than the movie. I think all that are on the list are remarkable but there are so many lovely dresses.

Style At Every Age said...

I really hope the SATC clothes will be on the list in 50 years time, some of them are so iconic and I loved every outfit in the recent film.

Cheryl said...

Have to go with Audrey Hepburn. She could wear anything and make it look elegant.

Betty said...

I think I also like Audrey's dress the best. It's timeless. I like Marilyn's too.
