"UGLY EATING HABITS OF BEAUTIFUL STARLET"

"Ugly eating habits of beautiful starlet"
A
merican starlet Megan Fox, who is best known for making lists like "Sexiest Woman Alive" and cover girl for Allure magazine's June edition, has a sad message for young (and possibly anorexic) girls around the world, saying:
"I'll starve to death before I'll cook for myself. I think I could survive a week without eating."

Has she any responsibility to her young fans or has she the right to do (and say) whatever she pleases?

In your opinion, what rights and responsibilities does any celebrity (major or minor) have - in public?
And have you ever yo-yoed in weight? Now’s the time to ‘fess up - in confidence of course! It’ll just be between you and me (and, er, thousands and thousands of my dear readers!) Do let me know your views!
Happy Six Word Saturday! Other great posts @
Show My Face.See you again for Ruby Tuesday!
Mwah!
XOXO LOLA:)

Yeah my weight goes up and down. It usually goes way up when i'm on vacation. I eat like a major piggy cause i don't want to miss out any of the different foods and I know I might never go back.
I can't like anyone who doesn't have some kind of appreciation for food. MF sets a poor example. A lot of young people today dont even know how to cook an egg. It makes u wonder whats going to happen to them when their mom isn't around to cook for them anymore. They probably end up at mcdonalds LOL.
Have a great weekend.

I think that when you make a commitment to entering the public domain.. you are then responsible to have some ethics and appearance to your fans. When entering the world of entertainment.. you are making a conscience decision to become a puble entity. Your private, personal life is now up for scrutiny!

I think they should have a lot more responsibility for a "public image" than they do, but then I get caught on the free country thing. I usually just don't listen to idiotic celebrity speak. But what to do about all of the impressionable young people who do?

While I do believe that Celebrities have some responsibility in what they put out there, I feel that if the Young Fan's real life role models - i.e. parents and such - were instilling the proper ethics and understandings in the youth, The Young Fans would recognize all the celebrity dribble as B.S. and realize people like the girl you mentioned for the idiot that she really is.

Just my opinion.

The whole cultural body image for both men and women is moving into the need for political cultural change. In the UK one of the public broadcasters did a series on sexual education that looked at the myths created by youngsters access to porn and celebrity magazine. Survey after survey based on pictures of natural male and female bodies showed the 16+ year olds favouring cosmetic or photoshopped shaped bodies and finding their natural body ugly. It is a shame that she said that...I hope young girls don't follow her example and try to starve themselves for several days.

Even when I was young and slim I still ate what I wanted and enjoyed it. I was healthy.

Now I am almost sixty and I am overweight...I wish I was more active...but I have several issues that keep me from excercising.

But I enjoy life and I try to eat right most of the time.

Ok, well ....I hope you have a lovely Saturday.

We are leaving on a little vacation tomorrow with our daughter and 4 grandkids. Going to Silver Dollar City...so I will get plenty of walking in this week! (:>)

Lola, Megan is a pure nut...
no one takes her seriously but you are right, the young kids may take this seriously...
I am sure she will not die if she does not eat for a week..maybe that is how she keeps slim...such a silly girl...

have you a great weekend, Lola...

I don't cook much these days, but I am far from starving to death. Her statement was a little disturbing.

That is a little disturbing...I think the best thing...in today's world...everyone knows it's disturbing. :) Happy Six Word Saturday!

I have never been good with diets, but are at the moment quite happy with where I am.

I think she is hugely irresponsible.

OMG! I can't believe she said that! I personally feel what these celebrities say can have an affect on people cause if they are considered a role model to some people, it can do damage. Shoot...look what the magazines do. It's just not right! My mom suffered from anorexia and bulimia and seeing that made me aware and cautious. I had always been thin growing up but then I got with my husband and gained 50 lbs. I got to a point I was disgusted with myself and thought that I just needed to get used to the "new" me but one day, it just clicked. I checked in to Weight Watchers and have lost the weight. No yo-yoing for me though. Thank goodness. I just weigh myself all the time so I don't lose control.

Great post!! Thanks for stopping by also ;O)
Happy SWS!!!

I wonder if she was taken out of context, the press can't be trusted to get anything right

it sounds like she could have been kidding and simply commenting on how bad a cook she is

I do think celebs popular with younger folks should try to shine a light for their fans but in the end they deserve to live their lives as they want and parents need to step in

I yo-yo all the time mostly on the up side ;)

I can't believe she said that either. Like our teenage daughters don't have enough issues to deal with. I fully support actors who have enough confidence and self esteem to be themselves and love their curves.

thanks for stopping by my place and saying hi!

I'm hoping to teach my daughters how to distinguish between those they want to imitate and those they don't! And yes, my weight sky-rockets when I'm pregnant and then plunges when I get to start working out again.

Happy SWS! This girl is probably a little nuts--like most of the celebrities seem to be. It took me a while to realize that. LOL I sure don't want to be like most of today's celebrities!

Your post and the comments were really interesting. It raises a lot of issues. I think some of the stars say things for shock value as well. I cant say that I pay that much importance in general. Having 2 daughters its real hard these days to find wholesome role models. If you know of any let me know. Thanks for sharing.

Ehi, I don't know about my weight..I'm not the kind of girl who is crazily obsessed with beauty =)

Well, celebs always make an impact.. so she could be more careful with her words.

Hi Lola and Nora,

That is sad when role models say such stupid things like that.
They really should think before they come out with such irresponsible words.
Yes, my weight wavers a bit and that is why I go on daily walks and get some exercise. Never had to worry, but I think as one gets older, I need to watch it more.
Thanks for the great thought provoking post.

Happy weekend.

Like Dianne said....she may have been taken out of context. Perhaps taking a shot at her own cooking?? I personally am not a good cook. I really am awful! That does NOT mean that I starve though!!

What a silly little bitch she is! I wonder how someone who doesn't eat for a week, can look that good!

I'm a classic yoyo dieter and if I were in the public eye I would keep my weight down with slimming pills. I know it is wrong but it is also something I used to indulge in when young and lovely. Now I just use will power and it is very hard - hence going to weight watchers.
