WATT-EVER NEXT? "PAVEMENT POWER" ILLUMINATES STREETS?

"Pavement Power" - a truly Gallic phrase that brings to mind marauding students and protesting unions! Though this latest "pavement power" project in Toulouse, France’s south-western technology capital, has nothing to do with social unrest or burning barricades, it could still prove revolutionary since electricity generated by pedestrians is to be used to illuminate its street lights!
(Pictured) The Watt-sustainable dance club in Rotterdam, the green genesis for Toulouse's foot-powered lighting project.

The prototype of the modules developed in Holland was apparently unsuitable for street use since they only worked if you jumped on them like a kangaroo! However, according to the company's marketing director, Rotterdam's football stadium has recently signed a contract to run a pilot scheme and there are several similar pilot-projects being considered to use the modules in public spaces where there is a high traffic movement, such as train stations and sports stadiums.

What’s your take on this (and any other) use of green power? Can you foresee stamping on the ground to generate electricity for lighting in tube/train stations, stadiums, shopping malls etc where YOU live?

Happy Six Word Saturday! Other great posts @ Show My Face.
XOXO LOLA:)
PS See you for Ruby Tuesday on, umm, Tuesday!

I would happily stamp, jump and dance down the street - if I was in the mood that is. Good blogging Nora.

Already a distraction from the editing - a lad can only take so much of where is the verb object-subject. I can see it solving unemployment in rural areas, the new employee walks around a lamppost with a board saying be green and switch thus also cutting advertising costs. My six word Saturday.

Now I think its time for a mug of tea.

They should have them outside schools in the UK, might encourage kids to go to school rather than buck off!

Ruby Tuesday, then. I think the idea is brilliant. Can I have permission to post some of the info as well? If it works, it works. My husband is a grounds super at a school district and his creative mind will just love this! It probably cost too much for his school district, as it is for the whole of the us, no?
P.S.
Thank you for stopping by. I was kind of venting and reflecting and hoping to come up with a solution to a peoplology issue.
Yo people~

what an absolutely fabulous innovative energetic idea!!! and the first thing i thought of, too, was its installation in schools! can't you just see it now!! not only literal illumination, but figurative as well, with the students inspired by their own movements and the colors of their feet, so to speak! fabulous, dahling!!! thanks SO much for sharing - oh, and yes, i would LOVE to see this not just in my own neighborhood/world, but worldwide! what a new world it would be! very neat post! love and light to you both!

Hi Lola and Nora,

Great idea and thanks for sharing.
People could be fit in the process, jumping up and down. I would be happy walking down the pavement if it meant generating electricity.

Happy week ahead,
Hugs
Carolyn
