SPANISH FIESTAS ...

I often get visits from this exotic little guy and his mate (the Hoopoe with its
distinctive 'crown' of feathers) who probably took a wrong turn from Morocco ...
Thanks to Señor Hoopoe's skipping a few Geography classes, I'm the beneficiary!

In Spain, there’s always a fiesta, local, regional or national. Andalucia alone has 3,000 annually ranging from romerias (pilgrimages), verbenas (night fairs) to ferias (fairs) and festivales. Here’s a taste:

1. La Tomatina in Buñol:

2. Holy Week processions take place every evening pre-Easter

3. Puppets stuffed with fireworks set on fire on day of La Crema

4. Warriors parade celebrating Moros y Cristianos in Alcoy

5. San Sebastian’s La Tamborrada

6. A nominee for Queen of Santa Cruz de Tenerife carnival

7. Puerta del Sol, Madrid – New Year’s Eve
Enjoy!

Love that bird! We do have some festivals here in the Seattle area. Music and food fests are popular...

I haven't ever see that bird before. How interesting the beak is so long and narrow. We have parades, festivals and food fests.

I am sure the beautiful bird will enjoy visits to you. The countries around the world celebrate some very strange customs at times

Wow, the bird that should be in Morocco is gorgeous, thank goodness his geography is a little out and you can enjoy!

It looks like a very noisy festival. I have never seen any bird that looks like that.

The bird is gorgeous. We have a lot of festivals here too, but I don't think any of them are as fun as the ones you showed. Happy weekend!

That os a great looking bird! The plume t the back of his head makes him look as if in motion - while standing still :)

As for holidays in España, we in the US are quite staid in our approach - no tomatoes in sight here!

I wasn't necessarily expecting the Spanish Inquisition, like it appears at first glance here. Nobody does...

We used to have Hoopoe's come into our garden when we lived in Qatar in the Middle East. They always caused a stir with their fantastic plummage.
Great photos...thanks for sharing ;D
