ICONS ...

Dear readers, I am participating in Alphabe-Thursday where ‘N’ is for *N*elson Mandela & other Icons …
For many, Nelson Mandela (above) is an icon. Who, in your view, is the greatest icon ever (in any field: politics, medicine, arts, sport, music etc)? Here are a few to start us off:
Mozart,
Picasso, Dali or Miro,
Mother Theresa,
Professor Stephen Hawking,
Madame Curie,
Grace Kelly,
David Bowie,
Lola…?
IN A POLL, WHO WOULD YOU VOTE AS THE GREATEST ICON EVER - NATCH EXCLUDING MOI, LOLA. (CAN’T VOTE FOR MYSELF, CAN I? AFTER ALL, POLITICIANS DON’T, DO THEY?)
Do tell me! And do check out other posts - Alphabe-Thursday  @ Jenny Matlock,  Rednesday & Ruby Tuesday!
And, finally, thank you to all my dear readers who have visited or commented.
Have a great weekend!
Enjoy and see you next time,
XOXO LOLA:)

Well, I have to say I'd choose Nelson Mandela...or perhaps Mother Teresa.

You picked some good ones! I'm not sure who would be my favorite. I love that you added yourself as one of them!

All of those women I have admired, Nora. Even Lola. Had Adi lived she would have liked Lola. Adi died September 17th last year.s

She was a star on my blogs, appearing or being mentioned in least 628 posts

Nelson Mandella is in my opinion the greatest man that has walked this earth

tough question -- requiring more time and thought power than I have at the moment. I agree, though, that Mandela did more for this world than can be measured.

Of the ones you listed, I'd say Nelson Mandela and Mother Theresa. I'd add Georgia O'Keefe and Tasha Tudor.

Of course, Lola!!
And you gotta love David Bowie's outfit....

If we're not counting Jesus Christ, then I might say Mother Teresa (probably the closest thing!).

Of course, Lola is waaay up there as well.

Had to go away and think about this. But, in no particular order:

Winnie-the-Pooh
Florence Nagle
Jeanette Winterson
Freddy Mercury

and every dog - they are all brilliant!

I went back to check, the photos came slowly. I really like your dog. It is the same kind as my brother's.

As with most, the definitive icon cannot be chosen by me - an amalgam of the best character is what we hope to see...Mandella won his captors over by his dignified way in captivity;Theresa by her selfless behavior of the downtrodden.

So much character and I am not sure about Bowie - the musical artist is great but this look at the mix of Ziggy Stardust and Aladin Sane have an odd style...these references do date me somewhat :)

Such nifty icons you've shared here.

Each one defines such a specific segment of society...great variety.

Thanks for linking.
