PONIES ...

Dear readers, this week *P* IS FOR *P*ONIES!
A man who attempted to take a pony on a train last year at Wrexham station in north Wales (above) also tried to get treatment for the animal in A & E (ER) at a nearby hospital! Yes, really!
It’s also just been reported that Dartmoor ponies in Devon are to go on the pill! World Horse Welfare vets have been given the go-ahead to use contraceptive injection on the semi-feral mares (below) after a Devon pony population explosion. Yes really!
Dartmoor takes its name from the river Dart and was designated one of the National Parks of England and Wales in 1951. It's a beautiful moorland landscape with wooded valleys and windswept Tors. 368 square miles in area, it's rich in habitat for wildlife and has a wealth of archaeological remains like the famous Hay-Tor (bottom). Do check out other Alphabe-Thursday posts @
Jenny Matlock. And, finally, thank you to all my dear readers who have visited or commented.
Enjoy,
XOXO LOLA:)

Love the ponies. I confess, I'd take my animals to the ER if I had to. :-)

Hi Lola and Nora,

That is a whole new thing, trying to take a pony on a train!
Probably a great way of keeping the feral mares under control.
We went to a wedding down near that area, staying at the Dartmouth marina, it is lovely.

Hope that you are enjoying the week
Hugs

A very interesting and informative post. I wonder if they'd think of using this method on deer here?

Awwww. So cute. There's a little teeny pony near us...he's about the size of a St Bernard. My hubs always likes to stop and say 'hello' to him

Thanks for the background info too

I have memories of a pony I learned to ride on "Sammy" he didn't like me much and bucked me off. I no longer ride horses.

The ponies are stunning in their beauty, the red manes looking so good as they flow with the wind. The landscape is so rugged, what a lovely view of nature...hope the injections work!
