LOLA'S CHRISTMAS IN JULY PARTY GIVEAWAY!!

FIRST OF ALL, HAPPY HOLIDAYS, DEAR READERS!

AND WELCOME TO LOLA’S CHRISTMAS IN JULY PARTY GIVEAWAY!

THIS IS A MINI-MEME! THE CHALLENGE IS TO POST TWO LIES AND ONE TRUTH. CAN YOU SPOT WHICH ONE IS THE TRUTH? THE WINNER WILL RECEIVE MY GREATLY COVETED LOLA AWARD (BELOW)!
THE COVETED LOLA AWARD!

Two of the statements below are FALSE! One is absolutely TRUE! The question, then, is which? The correct one drawn (see below!) will get the greatly coveted LOLA AWARD! After all, everyone gets an Oscar these days. But who do you know has a LOLA? You’ll be the envy of all your friends, neighbours, blogpals!! Here, then, are the three statements:

1. When she lived in LA, Nora met and chatted with Paul Newman who told her he preferred eating incognito in small, unassuming restaurants to avoid the paparazzi and hangers-on waiting outside to pounce...
PAUL NEWMAN!

2. Nora is related, albeit very distantly, to London Mayor, Boris Johnson (below). Both are fair-haired and prone to waffling and bumbling ineptitude. Both studied Latin! But while Boris’ side of the family has Turkish forebears, Nora’s is totally British born and bred. Here's Boris:

BORIS JOHNSON, MAYOR OF LONDON!
Oops! Grrh!! Wrong pic again, Nora !! Grrh...Grrh...!!! True both gents have fair hair and first names beginning with "B" but that's probably where most similarity ends, don't you agree?!! Anyway, here's our one and only Boris:
THE REAL BORIS!

3. Early in her career as a would-be writer, Nora did a trainee stint at one of the UK’s tabloid newspapers. It was there she developed the habit of alliterative allusion (“sliding down the slippery slope of sloppiness... beacon of beauty in a desert of deficient desolation”); bombastic hyperbole (“Stop Press! Your Lola Lifeline!”) and over-use of exclamation marks!!!!

ONE TABLOID!
ANOTHER TABLOID!

Remember, only ONE of the above statements is TRUE! It’s up to YOU to decide which!

To ensure the judging is as fair and impartial as the recent Iranian elections (No! Seriously! Just joking!), I have asked P (who’s extremely independently minded) to conduct the task: the winner will be randomly drawn from all the correct answers after the DEADLINE OF MIDNIGHT (BST), JULY 31. (Can’t entrust Nora with such an important task - too useless for words!) And I will announce the winner ASAP after the final deadline!

THE RULES (*STERN LOLA FACE*!!!):
1.You are a follower of The Lola (oops!) Johnson Diaries! Already one? Thank you! If not, just be sure to click on the followers link (right) before entering!
2. Leave your answer in the comment box below.
3. Accept the LOLA AWARD
, post it on your blog together with my name and blog link.
4. Pass on the Lola Award plus mini meme.

And remember, this may be a Once-In-A-Lifetime-Offer! So hurry! Enter now!

Buche de Noel, Fauchon

And now, after all this Christmas excitement, I’m going to creep back to my basket for my beauty sleep (yawn), but do help yourselves, my dear readers, to some pistachio bûche de Noël (above) and egg nog (below) on your way out! Oh, and do please close the door firmly as you leave... don’t want to be woken up by the merry clinking of all those glasses (snore)!!!

And a huge thank you to our divine hostess, my dear friend, Maggi, at Just Add Glitter and Stir for hosting this great event!

HAPPY HOLIDAYS AND SEE YOU SOON AT YOUR PLACE!
xxLOL LOLA:)

Happy Christmas in July my dear.

Loving the food, mmmm see you soon.xxx

Joyeux juillet! (Sounds way better than "Merry July", I think.)

I am also voting for #1 as the truth and #2 and #3 as lies, lies, lies.

Hi there, They are back now, I had them out for over a day last week
:( xxx

Hope you had a bit of a snooze.

Although I never met Paul Newman, I knew many people who did - at an out-of-the-way bar in the Midwest that he frequented during racing season. The place was most definitely under paparazzi radar. (Other celebrities liked it for the same reason.) PN insisted on being treated like a nobody, and he was. So I say #1 is true.

The eggnog was heavenly! Merry Christmas!

Happy Holidays! I think #1 (Paul Newman) is true....Have a wonderful weekend! Take care, Caroline

Happy Holidays to all my lovely readers! However, unfortunately there seems to be a problem with ALL our sidebar followers links! They seem to be MISSING!! Check yours!! Maybe Mr Blogger’s stolen them!! He’s already caused enough problems with site blocks...

Looking forward to seeing you all at your place for more Xmas in July Blog Party fun!

xxLOL LOLA:

P.S. In case of any unintended ambiguity, the post above should have read “The correct answer DRAWN will receive the Lola Award”, not “the FIRST correct answer...” I have amended this to give all my dear, esteemed readers equal opportunity to enter given all the unequal time zones!! Good luck!! xx

I won't pass on the tag because I don't do that any more but I might just pinch the meme - if that's ok

Lola darrrrrrling, no one's paw print covered posts make me smile quite like yours do! I must say, I read them each over three times and cannot tell which yarns are lies and which one is the truth.

If I had to pick just one that's true, I feel inclined to say the first one, that Mr. Newman favoured eating at small haunts to avoid the press (though given that his picture is plastered all over salad dressing bottles the world over, I'd imagine it would have been tricky to go unrecognized for very long!). Whichever is the true one, know that I got a total kick out of reading them all! :)

Scores of hugs to you both!!!
♥ Jessica

What a fun party. Lola is the best hostess! I saw Paul Newman at the Golden Globes in 98' but did not talk to him. I am pretty sure that you met and talked to him. He seemed like a nice fellow.

Merry Christmas from Holly and Albie!

PS - I never thought Boris looked better than in that first photo!

I'm voting number 3!! The tabloid writer:)

happy christmas in july!!!

i would love to think it is the meeting paul newman one, but I'm going for distant relative of Boris Johnson.

They are all random, but this one is just too random for words!!!

Good luck me! x

Dearest Nora, I do indeed, that is taking my crown off!! As for the migraine, it is much better, so nice of you to remember and inquire about, much appreciated, you are kind. Nora darling do you still have the problem with the follower widget? Mine simply disappeared after I posted a complaint with Google help!! This is the second problem of mine that corrects itself after I leave a rather long and nasty complaint on the help section of Google, worth a try if you are still experiencing it. No sexy hunks have realized it yet, what a shame!!

Dearest Lola,
How are you daaahling. No, I dont sleep in my tiara either, a girl has to take of her encumbrances before she goes to bed-besides my head probably gets so swolen with smugness that it gets a bit tight lol. Being fabulous in my sleep is just too much, you know?
Please keep an eye on Nora, I think you may be right about the book. Its a good thing she is a live in. Ah, if life doesnt come with enough problems, now we got to keep close tabs on the help too.
Funny thing happened yesterday. I was in liberty and co. department store and saw something which reminded me of you. I will be posting it soon.
have a lovely day daaaahling

Morning Lola

Poo and wee I must apologise for being too late for the competition on account of being traumatised by low cost travel for the past weeks.

However, just wanted to call in to say I love your site and the pictures especially Tara the It Girl who looks more furious than any other dog I have ever seen and makes me LOL every time I look at the picture. I mean that in a good way.

For the record, I don't think you could have met Paul Newman as surely he would have married you Miss Lola and we would have seen The Lovely Event in OK?

I think Boris is trying to have your hair but this isn't enough to claim blood relations so I'm going with the tabloid one.

I can hear Nurse calling. Let's hope it doesn't mean a bedbath.

xx

Hello Dolly,

Thank you for stopping by my wonderland, I am tempted by all scenarios but I think it has to be Paul N. as the truth, that's it, 1 is true.
