Dear readers, this week *M* IS FOR *M*OVIES – THE BAFTAS (British Academy of Film and Television Arts)!
The Artist
became the first silent film to win the top prize at last weekend’s Baftas in London (often viewed as a dry run for the Oscars in two weeks’ time), taking the award for Best Film and Best Actor. Meryl Streep (below) won Best Actress for The Iron Lady.
Here are some of the most striking frocks on display:
1. Penelope Cruz (above), 2. Meryl Streep (below)

3. Christina Hendricks(in Vivienne Westwood) 4. Michelle Williams5. Naomie Harris
6. Jessica Brown-Findlay (is her next rôle a governess?)
7. Edith Bowman (is that a tent?) 8. Christina Ricci (Is that a bar of Toblerone?) 9. Tilda Swinton
10. Miss Piggy (immaculate in Vuitton) – the star of the show! Miss Piggy rools OK!
WHAT’S YOUR OPINION ABOUT THE AWARDS/ FROCKS/ THE OSCARS?
Do check out other Alphabe-Thursday posts @ Jenny Matlock.
And, finally, thank you to all my dear readers who have visited or commented.
Enjoy,
XOXO LOLA:)

Meryl Streep is one awesome woman! And what happened to Tilda Swinton's make-up? I'm all for the natural look, believe you me, but that photo looks like she completely forgot to put any on. hmmmm

I have the biggest crush on Meryl! And so often she doesn't look like the amazing actress she is. So glad to see her rocking it!

The yellow dress is luscious!
Meryl Streep was awesome in the Iron Lady. I have yet to see The Artist.

I can't really choose which one I like the best. Some of them are pretty strange, though.

Tilda Swinton looks like she's going into an operating room - as a patient, draped for surgery or as member of the surgical team - very strange!

I have to say, I think the best dressed of the lot is Miss Piggy. When you've got it, you've got it ;).

A red carpet says that special people are crossing over to the venue. I did notice that the red carpet works best with a black dress, I don't know why. Whatever clothing color, a red carpet signifies style, class and really special!

The deep rich red of Penelope Cruz's gown is absolutely stunning!!! I watch American Oscars just because of the fashions.

Hi Lola and Nora,

Oh yes, Miss Piggy in Vuitton gets my vote {she must be so rich}
Penelope Cruz's dark red gown is elegant.

Hope that you are enjoying the week

Lots of elegant ladies at this function. Some were not dressed very much tho.

I think that they all look great, and I should look half as good as these women! They've definitely got guts, to get out there and face those that will ridicule them the next day!
Happy REDnesday,
Carol

But I have to disagree with you about Stacey's gown. I thought she looked gorgeous. :-)
