*O*H! IS TV CHANGING YOUR KITCHEN TOO?

Dear readers, I am participating in Alphabe-Thursday where ‘O’ IS FOR *O*H! IS TV CHANGING YOUR KITCHEN TOO?

A recent report in the UK press stated that the value of the average British kitchen has rocketed – now placed in the centre of action by soaps, dramas, cookery shows etc. Research by Liverpool Victoria home insurance revealed too that the average UK kitchen is now the most expensive room (average over £4000 or $6000) –an increase of 45% since 2005.

TV Dramas like:
1. Mad Men - Betty Draper in her kitchen (above)
2. Brothers & Sisters – the Walker family (below)
3. The UK's Coronation Street - Peter Barlow’s kitchen
HAVE YOU HAD YOUR KITCHEN REMODELLED? AND IS IT THE CENTRE OF ACTION? (OR WAS THAT ALWAYS THE CASE?) Do tell me. And do check out other Alphabe-Thursday posts @ Jenny Matlock.
And, finally, thank you to all my dear readers who have visited or commented. Have a good weekend.
And see you again for Ruby Tuesday.
Enjoy!
XOXO LOLA:)

We had a new kitchen back in November 1988, then I had another new one in April 2010. This time I was totally in charge of what we had and how it looks. It's exactly what I wanted and I love it.

It is not the centre of our home though as it is too small - it's my domain.

The kitchen has long been the center of the farmhouse. I redid mine a couple of years ago, but it was pretty minor and needs a major overhaul.

My kitchen is so small. We tend to hang out in the living room.

I find I enjoy cooking in a modern kitchen where I can find everything! Maybe though I'm not a natural cook!

If I could, I would have a HUGE kitchen with 2 centre islands (we're a very large family!)

When I built my house, I went all out on the kitchen. It is, hands down, no question the most expensive room in my house, but I love to cook and spend most of my time there, so it just made sense to me...

I have a very small house, my kitchen is open to the dining area so it's where folks sit and talk while I'm cooking:@)

We moved in only last June adn the kitchen is VERY dated but to have it like I wish means major building work - I'm goign to smash a wall down and shuffle things about :) So we're looking at £20,000 GBP which means I'll just have to make do for a while, *sigh*

What a fun link to Alphabe-Thursday's letter "O".

It's funny but I never really thought about how TV changes culture, but it absolutely does.

What a fascinating link.

Outstanding work!

A+

If I could build the home of my dreams the kitchen and family room would flow together to be the center of our home, and I'm sure would have the most expensive accessories in the house! With 3 teenage boys + 2 more kids in the house the kitchen is always busy!

I wish! My kitchen is so tiny that I'm longing for a nice big one like the ones on TV. However, if my kitchen is that big in reality, it would mean that it'll take up more than half my apartment!

We just bought home and the kitchen was recently redone. It is very beautiful and I liked thiws kitchen post as it is the center of the home. Thanks for the sweet reminder. Anne

I'm actually pretty happy with my kitchen, but I wish it had a window and if I were redoing it I'd raise the counter-top height a few inches (I'm pretty tall).

I've not remodeled any kitchens because I've moved far too much, but I do think it's important to have one that's well-equipped and big. There's nothing worse than an outdated kitchen...

Hope you have a good weekend!

Everything on TV always looks great. My kitchen has all the basic things, so it's okay. I spend most of my time drawing in my room, hardly 'travel' around the other parts of my house so it's no biggie :D

Sparkly rain,
Berlin
