ANIMALS INDIGENOUS TO SPAIN (PART 1)
The brown bear used to be prominent in the area, however the numbers have dwindled significantly. The amount of brown bears in Spain 100 years ago was approximately 1,000, while now there are believed to be only 100. If you want to spot a brown bear, you can find most of them in the Cantabria National Park.
The Long Haired Mountain Goat is a bit easier to come across - there are believed to be about 20,000.
The Iberian Wolf is another which has increased its numbers recently
Not forgetting, of course, those bulls and corridas

My mother's lemon syllabub, which was her dinner party standby throughout the sixties, with good reason. I still know the recipe - the juice of a lemon and half the grated rind, a sherry glass of Amontillado, 4 ounces sugar, half a pint of cream, whisk until thick and pour into glasses - long-stemmed hock glasses, she used.
I still make it but use all the lemon rind, less sugar and a good splash of brandy, because tastes have changed in half a century. I've inherited the green-stemmed hock glasses, though.
Oh gosh, this is X-tra special, the animals are just fantastic to see!
My mother's German pancakes which are smaller, pan fried versions of Dutch Babies...
I make them for my grandson and every time I do, I miss my Mom.
Love the animals and all the unexpected foods ~ great post and photos for X ~ xoxo

Roasted lambs eyeballs sure are X-tra special, but I think I'll skip!

What a wonderful collection of animals you have in your area!
I hate corridas and I am happy when the toreador is killed, it's so cruel ! The X-tra special dishes sound good !
X-tra special collection of animals.. I don't really have any dishes that I hate.. just mostly weird dishes with unusual insects or reptiles really turn me off.
these mountain goats look so different from the ones I know! Great info:)
Love the animals! My family is infamous for pickles and sauces.

My mom made the best cream puffs and also homemade bread. So light and airy!
I don't know if you know LaVoice (LV) from Thoughts from Meme's Corner. But I am telling everyone she became very ill last week and they can not find out what is wrong with her. I had the honor of meeting her and her niece Suzanne (ColoradoLady) a few years ago. So we are asking everyone to send her a card to get well. Just e mail me for her address: phamilybusiness1@aim.com
Thanks and hugs.
