THE LAST OF THE ICONS ...

With Elizabeth Taylor’s death last week, many in the press say it’s the end of the era of true glamour and star quality. Yes, it’s true, dear readers, with the death of this icon – like Marilyn earlier – there are now so few of us left! But where was I? Oh, yes … Who, in your view, will be remembered longer: Elizabeth or Marilyn? Here are a few reminders of, perhaps, Elizabeth’s best-known films:

1. Cat on a Hot Tin Roof

2. Giant

3. Suddenly Last Summer

A good Ruby Tuesday & Rednesday! And do visit other Ruby Tuesday/Rednesday posts! (Links at Work of the Poet & Sue loves Cherries.)

Enjoy!

XOXO LOLA:)

PS Have a good week and see you again for Alphabe-Thursday!

Yes, it's definitely the end of an era. There's no glamour like that anymore.

Happy RT! I'm enamoured of the Golden Age of Hollywood, too. Like Madonna sang: Ladies with an attitude, fellas that were in the mood.

Elizabath Taylor will be missed.

Elizabeth Taylor will definitely be missed, I loved her, but I think MM will be remembered longer. I think her dying at the height of her beauty and career may have something to do with that.

I loved them both
I think Elizabeth will be remembered longer because she was around longer and she did so much charitable work

I think that Marilyn will probably be remembered longer.

Dear Nora and Lola,

Yes the end of an era and I loved them both.
I wonder who will step up to replace these legends?

Have a happy week

Elizabeth will be remembered more partly because of all her marriages! Great actress too of course!

They definitely don't make Hollywood stars like they used to. All the actresses now pale in comparison. She's truly iconic but I think Marilyn wins simply because she died young at the height of fame and has been immortalised in pop culture for so long already.

Definitely the end of an era. I think that there is still so much mystery and infamy surrounding Marilyn, that she might be remembered longer. Was she murdered, or was it a suicide or just a tragic accident? We'll never know....
Happy REDnesday,
Carol
p.s. I love your posts, because you always get us thinking!
