FLOWERS ...

Dear readers, this week ‘F’ IS FOR FLOWERS – IN PAINTINGS!
I love flowers, preferably freshly cut and in a vase. Pity they’re ephemeral! Next best, then, have to be flowers depicted for all time in paintings. Here are a few:
1. Andy Warhol, Pittsburgh

2 Judith Leyster, Haarlem

3. Georgia O’Keeffe, Minneapolis
4. Monet, Musée d’Orsay, Paris
5. Manet, Berlin
6. Hokusai, British Library, London
7. Dürer, Washington DC
8. Jan Brueghel The Elder, Bucharest
9. Henri Fantin-Latour, private
10. Van Gogh, Washington DC
FAVOURITE FLOWERS? OTHER FLOWER PAINTINGS YOU KNOW OF?
Do check out other posts - Alphabe-Thursday  @ Jenny Matlock, Ruby Tuesday & Rednesday!
And, finally, thank you to all my dear readers who have visited or commented. And to new followers too.
Have a great weekend!
Enjoy and see you next time,
XOXO LOLA:)

I'm a fan of O'Keeffe's flower paintings, they're gorgeous. Also Van Gogh's sunflower paintings as well.

Isn't it interesting to see how flowers can be interpreted so differently by painters. I always love to look at the Impressionist flower themed paintings. Van Gogh and Monet captured their beauty pefectly.

Hi Nora, you've got good taste! I like your "F" pictures. Van Gogh is probably my favorite. We stayed in St. Remi in 2005 and almost camped out in his olive tree orchard.

Monet is high on my list. We visited both Giverny and the Musée d’Orsay in 2009. That year was BIG, from Barcelona to LaHarve and wonderful in between.

I like Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec probably second but I don't remember any flower paintings of note by him. We also visited the Lautrec Museum in Albi (France) in 2009.

Flowers are wonderful, as no two in nature are absolutely alike. So why should two artists interpret the flora exactly the same as well? These are all beautiful expressions, the artist just knows how to paint each one in that style to always catches our eye and admiration too...
