"LONDON BRIDGE IS FALLING DOWN"? - OOPS! IS RE-OPENING!

“LONDON BRIDGE IS FALLING DOWN”? - OOPS! IS RE-OPENING!
As the London landmark Tower Bridge is about to reopen to ships for the first time in 5 months following a facelift, an on-site exhibition sheds new light on this masterpiece of engineering.

Building the bridge (that opened in 1894) took eight years, the lives of 10 men, 30,000 tons of granite and Portland stone.

Happy Ruby Tuesday and Rednesday!
And do visit other Ruby Tuesday/ Rednesday posts! (Links at Work of The Poet & Sue Loves Cherries.)
Enjoy!
XOXO LOLA:)
PS Have a good week and see you again for Alphabe-Thursday!

I hadn't realised the Bridge had been closed for renovation.

Great photos.

I always think any bridge or very large building is an amazing feat of mans ability, especially the very old ones which would all have been made without the assistance of machinery.

The ruby fireworks perfectly highlight the stunning Tower Bridge. The view of London is perfectly completed by the ruby clad Beefeater. Lovely UK rubies!

Hi Nora and Lola,

London Bridge is such an amazing masterpiece and I got excited just seeing it.
Happy Ruby Tuesday, dear friend and thanks for visiting me.
I just realized that the Peter Jones department is the guy from the Dragons den fame, is that right?.
Christchurch is just having another major earthquake, so sad for the people living there.

Hope that you have a lovely week
Hugs

Very interesting. I'm helping a couple of my grandchildren as they study world history, including England. This will be a fun fact to share with them while we work together. Thanks for an interesting Rednesday visit.

This is an awesome shot of an awesome bridge...and one of my favorites. Where is the blue paint? Maybe it is missing due to the lighting.
