Recently got back from a work-related Summer break in the UK – specifically, the Yorkshire Dales, the Lakes (Grasmere, above) and the Peak District … for further research on the next in my Alice Myers series of murder/mystery thrillers (See Retribution, sidebar right!).
Here, then, are a few images from the trip and possible locations for, err, dastardly deeds:
Might a corpse be found lying somewhere in the grounds of Fountains Abbey:
Southwest of Ripon, North Yorkshire, near the village of Aldfield, Fountains Abbey
is Britain's largest monastic ruin and most complete Cistercian abbey.
And World Heritage site!
or: Bolton Abbey:
An estate in Wharfedale, North Yorkshire, which takes its name from the ruined 12th-century Augustinian monastery now generally known as Bolton Priory. It is adjacent to the village of Bolton Abbey.

Or, perish the thought, within York Minster itself (the largest Gothic cathedral in northern Europe) ... MURDER IN THE CATHEDRAL?
More possible locations for thriller action:
Buttertubs Pass - err! Look away now those with vertigo ...
Hello, still with us? OK now? Maybe better stick with some trails in Swaledale (below)!
Onwards and upwards! Next: Cumbria and The Lakes:
Grasmere:
and Dove Cottage on the edge of Grasmere, home of the poet William Wordsworth and his sister
And Hill Top Farm, near Ambleside, home of Beatrix Potter (author of Peter Rabbit books):
Lastly, Derbyshire and the Peak District:
Could there be a murder victim within Chatsworth, on the estate of the Duke of Devonshire (below)?
Or maybe on one of these trails:
leading to Frogetts Edge - Help! Get me outta here!
As you can imagine, we kept our ears to the ground throughout the trip ...
Or at sinister Malham Cove:
